Sustainable buildings use less energy and materials, and are healthier and more comfortable spaces for occupants. Together with a lower environmental impact, sustainable buildings have a relatively low cost of operation and, in the long term, more valuable properties.

To move away from the linear economic model of “drinking, manufacturing and wasting” towards resource efficiency, a sustainable built environment is needed. And the construction sector is one of the sectors with the highest consumption of resources: it represents approximately half of all materials extracted, half of total energy consumption, one third of water consumption and one third of waste generation.
